Artists in Residence

The guesthouse and studio. The Foundation runs and looks after the guesthouse and studio in Ronco sopra Ascona, Ticino, overlooking Lake Maggiore. The property stands in a pretty setting on the south side of the Alps and enjoys a Mediterranean climate. It has a marvellous view of the lake, surrounding mountains and the famous islands of Brissago. In the past the property was the home and workplace of the painter, draughtsman and writer Richard Seewald.

The Foundation allows recognised artists from different backgrounds (figurative arts, photography, design, literature and music) to use the guesthouse and studio under favourable conditions for between 3 weeks and 3 months. As a rule, where residencies are concerned, the Foundation gives priority to first-time guests. An initial application requires the sending of a CV, portfolio or other form of documentation pertaining to the artistic work done, internet site, etc.

The guesthouse has the following rooms: living room, entrance hall with library, double bedroom, single bedroom, kitchen, bathroom. Also provided are a wifi internet connection, bedlinen and towels, though guests are free to bring their own linen and towels if they prefer. Down by the lakeside there is a private bathing house that guests are free to use.
